MK1 02A 02J TRANSMISSION MOUNT KIT

Ready to install that 02a or 02j into your mk1, here is where you start, our laser cut, tig welded, and powdercoated brackets have been making this swap simple for years.. includes front and rear mount plates (uses stock style mk1 rubber mounts ; not included but can be purchased here )

02j will REQUIRE the reverse switch to be removed if you are using the cable clutch conversion kit, a plug will be provided for you.  However if you are using the Hydro MK1 Kit  you can keep the reverse switch, cable clutch users will get a bracket that bolts on to hold the cable at the trans with the purchase of their 02j Cable Clutch kit .

02a kits will come with a shim as the mounting face is smaller, please put a note in your order if you are using an 02a trans.

Install Notes:

  • 02js will require the upper mount bracket holes be DRILLED out as they are threaded, use a 13/32 bit, this will create the same size hole as the 02A cases and work with the provided hardware

Our adapter bracket fits the 02A / 02J transmission shifter box into any MK1 Chassis. Make sure to verify which shift box you have - 02A is steel and 02J is a aluminum made box.

Mk1 Mk2 02A 02J Cable Clutch Conversion Kit


 

This kit uses an OE style Eurovan cable clutch actuator, the cable is designed specific for our needs, using an OEM mk1/2 clutch cable connection, metal adjuster sleeve and adjustment nut,  its longer length allows you to tuck the cable under the transmission and swing around the starter.

* You need to make sure your pedal cluster is in good shape, this cable system is going to pull harder than your old 020 cable did. Proper lubrication of the cable prior to install is KEY!!

Kit includes the needed tab for mk1 and mk2  installation, it simply bolts onto your transmission.

 

Mk1 Hydraulic Clutch Kit

Our kit comes with the backing plate, wilwood .70 master cylinder, and an OE 02A slave cylinder (will fit 02j transmissions as well, 02a uses a threaded fitting where as the 02j uses an oring fitting)    02m users will receive a threaded bleeder adapter which will allow you to use the OEM slave/release bearing.  (02m users please include a note on your order that this is for an 02m)

MK1-VNT TDI Stainless Downpipe

Ready to have that TDI turbo whistling in your mk1?  This will give you a great start to your exhaust system without having to fab up your own, or have an exhaust shop chop and weld on your chassis.  Our downpipes are made from 304 stainless so they will last longer than your affection for your new motor swap.  If you kept the 020 instead of swapping to the 02a/j trans you'll need our short shift kit modified to fit the new downpipe.  You will select your downpipe based on which trans you have installed.  Downpipe flanged for VNT series turbos (15/17/22)

We will press your purchased mount bushings into your mount brackets for you if you need us to, this way they are ready to bolt right in!

Mk1 Core Support Brace AKA "Torque Tamer"

This little bad boy will keep your engine where its supposed to be and your delicate core support from folding under the pressure of your new B.A. swap you just dumped in the bay.  .25" steel is laser cut, bent, and then welded to create this core support abuse prevention device.  They come powdercoated black standard!

 

  • Install note, if your horns are mounted to the core support, they and the bracket they attach to will need to be moved.
  • These will interfere with an AC compressor on these swaps, ABA, TDI, 1.8t, VR6

 

 

TDI Timingbelt Kits

Installing a TDI in your mk1 or mk2? Maybe just servicing the daily, either way, use quality OE parts for worry free service intervals.

ALH, BEW, BRM options include, Contitech belts, Graf, or Hepu metal impeller pumps, INA bearing kits.

1.8T & TDI Single Mass Flywheel and Clutch Kit

Maybe its an old driveline in a new chassis, or maybe you are just refreshing the DD.  Either way, we offer a clutch kit that will satisfy your wallet as well as your need to motivate your shiftless ride..

Valeo is an OE manufacture, we think that its a good idea to use OE parts wherever possible.

Included in the kit:

This kit will fit any mk4 TDI, or 1.8t swap with an 02A or 02J transmission installed.

 

Short TDI "Race Pipe" for MK1 MK2 Swaps

The readily available EGR “race pipe” for the mk4 tdis is a bit too long  for comfortable routing in a MK1, mk2 chassis,  I use this short version for extra room for intercooler pipe routing.  This does delete the EGR pipe so it is for OFF ROAD USE ONLY, and you will need a tune to prevent a logged error in your ECU.  The kit includes :

  • Egr Race Pipe
  • Oring gasket to manifold
  • Attachment hardware
  • Boost port and plug if you don’t need a boost port
  • Turbo EGR Port plate

Billet Weld on MAP Adapter

These are milled billet aluminum, we have used these for the mk4, mk5  MAP sensors. They come with fittings for both MAP size options found in the mk4/5

Billet Weld on MAF Adapters

These are milled billet aluminum, we have options for the mk3, mk4, mk5. and mk6 MAF sensors.

TDI Lift pump for PD and CR swapped mk1 mk2 mk3

We use these little pumps as lift pumps from the tank to filter for our CR and PD tdi swaps, the ECU controlled relay powers them on and off as needed.. You can also install them in ANY tdi or diesel swap with a key on relay to help an aging pump or a high HP VE style pump..

74mm Mk1 Poly Engine Mount Bushing

74mm mount bushings are used on the engine mount bracket starting in 77-93 mk1 chassis. We also use them for all of our TDI and 1.8t mount brackets.

These bushings are 65a hardness which is just tougher than the OEM HD mount bushings. It is considerably softer than the 85a poly bushings (red – energy) that will rattle your teeth out of your head.

Sold individually, mount brackets are sold separately.

64mm Mk1 Poly Transmission Mount Bushing

64mm mount bushings were using on the upper trans mount starting in 74 through 93, they also used the 64mm bushing on some of the motor mounts but that was early cars only.
