Description
These bumpers are hand formed in house, from laser cut 10ga aluminum blanks. The idea for these is that they allow air flow to the lower grill sections in the MK1 core support, with some of the smaller bumpers on the market the airflow is cut off from this area of the grill. This is especially important when you are running a big displacement motor, or maybe you have ITBS or Carbs and need a short radiator to clear the trumpets, so now you’re missing 2″ of air flow from the top grill.
Obviously you can run without bumpers, but in some places that can get you a traffic ticket, no one has time for that.
These bumpers are stronger than the plastic euro bumpers, bigger than the Small Bumpers (we think that the SB bumpers are too small) and allow the needed airflow, they will protect against some parking lot bumps and bruises, but these are not certified by any DOT or NHSA, they are infact “trim” so installing them is the same as installing any other aftermarket bumper, do so at your own risk, know your local laws. Obviously don’t tow your car or anything else with these either!
Options :
Right now I am only offering these as a pair for the Rabbit, Cabby, Jetta, they do not have cutouts for turnsignals, that may come in the future. Also in the future will be Scirocco 1 and Caddy versions, again as a PAIR.
You can get them in a Wrinkle Black PowderCoat, or if you have an RAL number you would like them coated I can do that as well. The other option is RAW, this means they will be prepped as I would have brought them to my powdercoater who then sand blasts and scuffs as needed- this option is cheaper but you will be doing some finish work if you plan to run them uncoated or painted, I finish them with an 80grit disc, so it is coarse cut.. I am not offering polished at this time, but if you wanted them polished plan on adding over 300.00 to the cost..
